The shop is a vital facility for the local community, providing not only a convenience store but also a hub for local residents, who frequently use the shop as a place to catch up with friends and neighbours and find out about local events and activities.  The area also attracts many visitors, who visit the shop for supplies and tourist information.  We are always looking for new volunteers to join our existing team of counter staff and buyers and to fulfil many other roles, including financial administration, marketing, stock management and display work etc.  Becoming a volunteer is a great way to meet new people and old friends and is very rewarding.  Full training is provided and every effort is made to match volunteers’ skills and experience with the tasks that need to be fulfilled, although many people like to use volunteering as an opportunity to try something completely new!

We currently need more counter staff, stock purchasers, financial administrators, people to set up the papers first thing in the morning and help with keeping the shop clean.  If you think you may be able to spare a few hours a week to carry out one of these vital functions, please get in touch with either Fiona (01588 660192),  or Shirley (01588 680425) for more information about what these roles entail.  Or use our contact form. We would like to emphasise that people are welcome to give it a try before deciding.
